Monday was a very restful day for us at the home of our friends, Bob and Ruth. We spent the day relaxing at the house by ourselves, since Bob and Ruth had to go out, then we had dinner in the evening with some new friends – Shawn, Christena and their family. Shawn and Christena have also been traveling a lot in their Suburban. They are in the process of raising support in order to move themselves and their four little ones to Slovenia to serve the Lord there as missionaries. Christena was in Bob and Ruth’s youth group when she was younger and so we all spent some time together getting to know each other and swapping stories.
El lunes la pasamos muy relajados en la casa de nuestros amigos, Bob y Ruth. Pasamos la mayoría del día solos, siendo que Bob y Ruth tuvieron que salir, y después cenamos con unos amigos – Shawna, Christena y su familia. Shawn y Christena también han estado viajando mucho en su Suburban. Están recaudando apoyo para mudarse al país de Eslovenia para servir al Señor allí como misioneros. Christena estuvo en el grupo de jóvenes de la iglesia de Bob y Ruth cuando era mas joven y así paso que todos pasamos un rato juntos conociéndonos y platicando.

Tuesday morning we couldn’t wait to finish the last leg of our trip. We started early so we would have time to unload the Suburban upon our arrival. It wasn’t too cold and there was no snow in Spokane, but we still had to cross the Cascade Mountains and we weren’t sure what might be awaiting us there. As it turns out, we did run into some snow, but nothing that slowed us down. By 1:30 we were driving into Tacoma!
El martes por la mañana teníamos ansias de terminar nuestro viaje. Salimos temprano para poder descargar la Suburban llegando a Tacoma. No estaba haciendo mucho frio ni tampoco había nieve en Spokane, pero todavía nos faltaba cruzar las montañas Cascade y no estábamos seguros de que nos esperaba ahí. Resulto que si estaba nevando en las montañas, pero no fue suficiente para impedir que avanzáramos. Para la 1:30 estábamos entrando a Tacoma!
Before we drove to Lakewood, we swung into downtown to pick up Scott (our pastor), who had dropped his motorcycle off at the mechanic and needed a ride. With the three of us squeezed into the front seat and the back still completely full of our stuff, we drove a little further down the highway and into Tillicum. Phew! We had made it!
Antes de entrar a Lakewood, pasamos por el centro para recoger a Scott (nuestro pastor) quien había dejado su moto con un mecánico y necesitaba raite (ride). Con nosotros tres como sardinas en frente y lo de atrás completamente lleno de nuestras cosas, manejamos un poco más hasta llegar a Tilicum. ¡Guau! ¡Por fin habíamos llegado!
Scott invited us to his house, which sits right behind the church, to have lunch before we started unpacking. After that we got right to work unloading the Suburban. While we were unloading, another friend of ours from Tillicum Baptist, Jean, stopped by to drop off some groceries for us. Thank you, Jean! The unloading didn’t take long, so we dug right into a couple of small projects inside the apartment until Scott and Caressa called to say we should come over for dinner.
Scott nos invite a comer a su casa, que esta justo detrás de la iglesia, antes de que empezáramos a descargar. Después nos pusimos a bajar cosas de la Suburban. Mientras estábamos descargando llego Jean, otra amiga de la iglesia, para traernos mandado. Gracias Jean! No duramos mucho descargando, así que cada quien se puso a hacer unos proyectos adentro del departamento hasta que hablaron Scott y Caressa para decirnos que fuéramos a su casa a cenar.
We spent the evening visiting with Scott and Caressa, then with my brother, Nate, and his wife, Jana, who arrived to welcome us to our new home. It was great to see everyone and we look forward to spending lots of fun moments with these special people in the near future. At the end of the day we fell into bed exhausted, but very happy to be here and to be able to settle into our new home. God has been good and we give Him ALL the glory, honor and praise!
Pasamos la tarde visitando con Scott y Caressa, y después con mi hermano, Nate, y su esposa, Jana, quienes llegaron después para darnos la bienvenida a nuestro nuevo hogar. Estuvo bonito ver a todos y esperamos pasar muchos momentos divertidos con estas personas tan especiales en un futuro cercano. Al final del día caímos a la cama agotados, pero muy contentos al estar aquí y al poder acomodarnos en nuestra nueva casa. ¡Dios ha sido bueno con nosotros y le damos TODA la gloria, honra y alabanza a El!
